Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to own end-to-end control system development for manufacturing across facilities. You will define architectures, lead PLC/HMI programming, and drive integration with robots, CNCs, and safety systems from concept through commissioning.

The role requires hands-on design, simulation, debugging, and coordination with multiple teams to deliver scalable automated manufacturing solutions that meet tight production requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 6+ years hands-on experience in industrial controls and automation from scratch.
• Experience interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Design control architectures, networks, I/O, and safety systems.
• Lead electrical design of bespoke automation systems.
• Coordinate across design, R&D, and field teams from concept to commissioning.
• Develop offline simulations and validate control logic and robot paths.
• Lead factory/site acceptance testing and start-up of systems.
• Create controls documentation packets.
