Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to drive hands-on design, build, install, and commission of automated manufacturing systems across facilities. You will apply first-principles thinking to diagnose root causes and architect robust solutions for novel challenges.

The role spans R&D, design, and deployment with opportunities to grow technical depth and ownership across full project lifecycles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience developing or integrating industrial controls and automation systems, including PLC and HMI programming.
  • Ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with industrial safety system design including safety PLCs and safety-rated circuits.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with applications engineers on conceptual automated manufacturing equipment and provide controls input from concept through detailed design
  • Design and support control system architectures including network topology, I/O distribution, safety systems, and communication protocols
  • Participate in the industrial controls and electrical design of bespoke automation systems
  • Develop offline simulations to validate control logic, robot paths, cycle times, and system behavior before hardware availability
  • Support and lead factory and site acceptance testing and system commissioning
