Job summary

GE Aerospace in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the IMA Configuration Tools domain. You will provide technical leadership, hands-on coding in C# and Python, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software that meets program requirements.

You will mentor junior engineers, guide design and testing activities, and help drive software quality and interoperability across aerospace programs in a hybrid/onsite work model with remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development.
• Experience with C# and/or Python development.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineers in a cross-functional environment.
• No visa sponsorship for this role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, debugging, testing, and review of software applications written primarily in C# and Python for IMA Configuration Tools.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior software engineers to support team development and execution.
• Partner with systems engineers and stakeholders to analyze user needs and translate requirements into software solutions.
• Ensure software development activities align with product specifications, requirements, and program objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and vendors to drive interoperability and reuse of software solutions.
• Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and propose innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
• Support project leadership with task planning, work assignment definitions, and execution support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes, tools, and best practices.
