Job summary

Novelis, headquartered in the Atlanta area, seeks a Lead Modeling Scientist to drive multi-physics, multi-scale ICME modeling that links aluminum sheet process conditions, microstructure and properties to accelerate product innovation and plant performance.

You will lead end-to-end modeling projects, validate predictions with SEM/EBSD/XRD/DSC data, and deploy predictive models in production while collaborating with plant engineers to improve throughput and quality.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree with 10+ years in computational modeling.
• Expertise in metallurgy and materials science for aluminum alloys.
• Experience linking process, microstructure and properties via ICME and multi-physics modeling.
• Strong programming in MATLAB, FORTRAN, C/C++, and statistical tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ICME models connecting process, microstructure and properties for flat aluminum products.
• Design multi-scale models linking casting, rolling, heat treatment and related processes.
• Build and refine thermodynamic and kinetic models using Thermo-Calc/DICTRA/TC-Prisma/Pandat.
• Lead end-to-end modeling projects from scoping to deployment in production.
• Integrate modeling with experimental data (SEM, EBSD, XRD, DSC) and plant data.
• Collaborate with plant engineers and R&D teams to improve productivity, recovery and quality.
• Document methodologies and contribute to IP via disclosures and patents.
• Apply models in production environments to improve throughput and quality.
