Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Detection Designer Engineer to design fire alarm systems for commercial projects from our New Cumberland, PA office. The role acts as a design lead, coordinating with CAD staff and other teams to deliver code-compliant, fully documented submissions.

You will develop BOMs, perform detailed calculations, support pre-sales activities, and mentor junior CAD technicians. A strong background in NFPA 72 and electrical/mechanical interfaces is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, mechanical, or drafting preferred (AutoCAD).
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm systems for Johnson Controls projects.
• Lead design activities and coordinate with CAD team.
• Prepare detailed schematics and bill of materials.
• Review submissions for code compliance and equipment compatibility.
• Provide technical support to field staff and customers.
• Mentor CAD technicians and assist in project delivery.
• Monitor hours and help manage project margins.
