Job summary

Trueline in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Lead HVAC Technician / Lead Installer to lead field installations and service challenges while remaining actively hands-on. You will own jobs, mentor a small team, and drive quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

The role emphasizes strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across residential and light-commercial systems, with opportunities to grow into estimating or department leadership in a local, stable environment.

Qualifications

10+ years hands-on HVAC experience.
Experience as Lead Technician/Lead Installer/Foreman or senior field resource.
Ability to independently run HVAC jobs in the field.
Strong installation background with advanced service diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Broad residential HVAC experience across system types.
Willingness to stay hands-on in the field.
Mentoring or guiding other HVAC professionals.
Capable of handling complex problems with minimal supervision.
Valid driver's license and basic personal hand tools.
Occasional >40-hour work weeks when projects demand.

Responsibilities

Lead residential and light-commercial HVAC installations from start to finish.
Own jobs in the field and coordinate work to ensure installations are completed correctly.
Diagnose and resolve difficult service, installation, and performance issues.
Work with heat pumps, mini-splits, rooftop units, boilers, and related equipment.
Serve as senior technical resource for a team of ~4 technicians.
Mentor and train less experienced technicians in problem solving.
Balance installation duties with diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Communicate professionally with homeowners, commercial clients, technicians, and teammates.
Uphold high standards for workmanship and customer service.
As the team grows, support estimating, project oversight, or leadership roles.
