Job summary

University of Redlands in Redlands, CA is seeking a Lead HVAC Technician to oversee maintenance, repair, and operation of HVAC and refrigeration systems across 52 buildings on two campuses. You will supervise two technicians, coordinate contractor work, and serve as the technical authority for legacy and high-efficiency equipment.

The role requires responding to emergencies, being on-call, and occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

5+ years HVAC experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
State Refrigeration License.
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems and plumbing related to HVAC.
Experience with CMMS (TMS preferred).
Valid driver's license.
OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

Supervise two HVAC Technicians; assign daily work orders and prioritize emergency repairs.
Diagnose, maintain, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, and chiller systems across both campuses.
Maintain knowledge of legacy and modern equipment; ensure preventive maintenance is documented in CMMS.
Troubleshoot Building Automation/Management Systems (BAS/BMS) as needed.
Travel between Redlands and Los Angeles campuses as required; support energy management and safety initiatives.
