Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a Construction Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic to lead refrigeration and HVAC project installations across hospital facilities. You will plan projects, review specifications, and provide cost estimates while overseeing budgets to ensure alignment with financial targets.

Qualified candidates bring 10+ years in refrigeration/HVAC, EPA 608 certification, and hands-on experience reading blueprints and using specialized tools in acute care settings.

Qualifications

  • HVAC certification from accredited trade school.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification.
  • 10+ years' experience in refrigeration/HVAC systems installation, servicing, and maintenance.
  • Reading blueprints and diagrams in the construction field related to refrigeration.
  • 3 years' use of common and sophisticated tools and systems in an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform refrigeration and HVAC project installations.
  • Plan and review projects and estimate costs.
  • Oversee project budgets to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Repair and maintain hospital refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff and direct work of less skilled technicians.

Job description

The Construction Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for refrigeration and HVAC project installations, project planning and review, cost estimation, and will have over site of project budget ensuring they meet budgetary requirements. In addition, this position will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of hospital refrigeration and HVAC systems and components, ensuring heating and cooling systems are operational for Medical Center buildings. May direct the work of less skilled mechanic(s) and maintenance staff on projects as part of a collaborative team.

Required Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training:Basic certification in HVAC from an accredited trade school
  • Upon hire: National EPA Section 608 Certification - State County City Trade License Authority
  • 10 or more years' experience in refrigeration/HVAC systems installation, servicing, and maintenance. Reading blueprints and diagrams in the construction field related to refrigeration
  • 3 yearsuse of common and sophisticated tools and systems in an acute care facility
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training:Two-year trade school certificate emphasizing HVAC, electrical and building control systems
  • Coursework/Training:Successful completion of a 4-year Apprenticeship from a recognized Union emphasizing HVAC
