Job summary

Custom Air Products & Services, Inc. in Houston seeks a Lead Sheet Metal Mechanic to plan, coordinate, and perform fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal components for HVAC systems.

This role provides field leadership and technical guidance to crew members to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to project specs. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, coordinating resources, installing ductwork and equipment, and maintaining compliance with OSHA and company standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• 3–5 years of commercial/industrial sheet metal/HVAC installation experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork installation, and sheet metal fabrication techniques.
• Ability to lead and direct crew members in a professional manner.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Pass pre-employment and/or jobsite screening as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and execute work from blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Plan daily work activities and coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to meet project schedules.
• Measure, layout, fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal ductwork and related HVAC components.
• Install HVAC equipment and components, including coils, heaters, compressors, control panels, dampers, and related systems.
• Determine project requirements, assembly sequences, installation methods, and material needs based on project specifications and field conditions.
• Drill, punch, cut, shape, and fasten sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
