Job summary

Pro Comfort Solutions LLC in Chicago, IL is seeking a lead HVAC service technician to run residential and light-commercial calls from a stocked company van with a fuel card. You will diagnose and repair furnaces, heat pumps, boilers and packaged rooftop units, and service refrigeration on walk-ins and ice machines.

You will explain issues and options to customers, provide quotes before work, and maintain accurate job records with notes and photos.

Job description

The lead service seat at a small, family-owned HVAC shop. You run your own residential and light-commercial calls from a stocked company vehicle with a fuel card, train helpers and help set how the service side works.

You need this on day one

• Five or more years of HVAC service work, including two or more years of refrigeration
• EPA 608 certification, Universal or Type II
• A valid driver's license

This is the work

• Diagnosing and repairing furnaces, split systems, heat pumps, and steam and hot-water boilers on your own
• Servicing packaged rooftop units on one- and two-story commercial buildings: gas/electric, heat pump and dual-fuel
• Refrigeration work on walk‑ins, reach‑ins and ice machines: expansion valves, leak detection, recovery and recharging
• Explaining the problem and the options to the customer in plain words, and quoting before the work starts
• A stocked vehicle, accurate Jobber records, and complete notes and photos on every call
• Training helpers and helping write the service procedures the crew follows
• Working from ladders and on roofs, and in attics and crawl spaces, in every season

EPA 608 certification, Universal or Type II, is required before your first day.

You'll drive a company van to jobs in the city.

Full-time day shifts, 40 hours or more a week. The lead service technician shares an on‑call and weekend rotation in peak heating season. Overtime is paid after 40 hours in a week, as state and federal law require.
