Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Power Electronics Controls Engineer to design and integrate controls for high-voltage power electronics including DC/DC converters, inverters, and onboard chargers. You'll translate vehicle requirements into robust control strategies, diagnostics, calibration, and verification plans, driving them through validation and production launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/controls engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with production DC/DC converters, onboard chargers, or related power electronics systems.
• Strong fundamentals in feedback control, stability, fault handling, and protection.
• Experience translating system requirements into controls, software, and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Define controls architecture and operating modes for voltage/current regulation and power management.
• Lead hardware-software integration across converter hardware, vehicle energy management, and validation.
• Collaborate with HW/SW teams to define and tune controls specifications.
• Plan and review simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, lab, and vehicle verification.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for controls and performance issues.
• Provide technical directions to suppliers and cross-functional teams.
