Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is expanding its Immersive Design Systems team and seeking a visionary Human Factors Scientist to re-engineer clinical systems, enhance safety, and lead cross-site initiatives. You will collaborate with clinical leaders, educators, and researchers to advance human-centered design across the enterprise.

The role involves spearheading HF projects, developing curricula, pursuing grant funding, and driving end-to-end change management in a hybrid setting with on-site

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success applying advanced human factors methodologies, safety science, and systems simulation to high-risk, complex environments.
• Track record of driving large-scale change management initiatives with diverse stakeholder groups across multi-site enterprises.
• Deep proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, metric development, grant proposal writing, and scholarly writing.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to thrive in a full-time, hybrid model with on-site Boston collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead Enterprise System Redesign: spearhead HF projects using usability evaluations, heuristic analysis, live clinical observations, process mapping, rapid prototyping, and simulation debriefing.
• Architect Education & Culture: co-design and deliver hospital-wide HF curricula, training, and orientations; launch outreach to elevate HF awareness.
• Fuel Research, Grants & ROI Measurement: co-lead grant acquisition, build evaluation frameworks, publish scholarly research to boost recognition.
• Drive End-to-End Project & Change Management: manage initiatives from inception to data evaluation and closing with rigor.
• Build High-Impact Partnerships: collaborate with clinical leaders and interprofessional staff to embed human-factors thinking.
• Maintain Cutting-Edge Expertise: monitor performance, update curricula, and pursue safety science and design thinking education.
