Job summary

Located in San Juan Capistrano, Reata Glen is seeking a Lead Housekeeper to oversee day-to-day Environmental Services operations in a brand-new CCRC retirement community in Orange County. The role emphasizes safety, resident relations, and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment.

The Lead Housekeeper will supervise staff, mentor team members, and support the Manager. A strong focus is placed on communication, infection control, and efficient schedule management, with a full benefits package

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one-year of prior housekeeping lead or supervisory experience in a retirement community, hotel or health care setting.
  • Minimum of two years of previous housekeeping experience.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and infection control procedures is required.
  • Skill in the use of computer software including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively with Residents.
  • Perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides team leadership by helping others and supervising staff when the Manager is absent or requests this help.
  • Provides mentoring and provides guidance to the Housekeepers and Custodians.
  • Drives department specific vehicles such as golf carts, sweeping machines and/or other light equipment to keep grounds clean.
  • Monitors the performance of all housekeeping personnel through personal inspections and other quality control techniques; reporting any concerns to department leadership for follow-up.
  • Assists with the scheduling of all apartment cleaning and special cleaning projects.
  • Communicates daily duty assignments/schedules to housekeeping personnel.
  • Unlocking and locking resident units as needed.
  • Keeps cleaning equipment in good repair and reports any broken or malfunctioning equipment to their Manager.
  • Performs all the duties and responsibilities of a Housekeeper and/or Custodian. Protects Community property/equipment and make sure there are no defects.
  • Assists with annual deep cleaning projects and unit turnovers as needed.
  • Notifies supervisors about any damages, deficits and disturbances.
  • Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience.
  • Observes and notifies supervisor about noticeable changes in a Residents health, demeanor or disposition.
  • Other duties as assigned by Department Director.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Lead Housekeeper assists in the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services Department. Ensures that the Community is clean and sanitary at all times. Ensuring floors, walls, vents, fixtures and windows are clean using the proper equipment, appropriate protocol and following the determined cleaning schedule. Provides support to the Manager/Director when requested. Promotes department safety and presents a positive image of Environmental Services Department and Community leadership. Responsible for maintaining excellent relations with the Residents and staff, and promoting good departmental morale.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort 95% of the work day.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, stand, and walk for up to up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to stoop and work from a kneeling position, perform repetitive bending, reaching and stretching.
  • Must be able to operate a vacuum, work in confined spaces around furniture and breakable objects, and have constant contact with residents.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. When lifting over 35 lbs., you are required to ask for assistance.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment generally weighing up to 200 lbs. over tiled and carpeted surfaces for long distances.
