Job summary

University of Southern California seeks a Transplant Coordinator II to oversee donor offers, organ recovery coordination, and post-transplant patient flow. The role requires logging and coordinating complex transplant processes, including after-hours support for urgent cases.

Responsibilities include on-call coverage, interdepartmental communication, and adherence to UNOS and CMS requirements. The position may be home-based with occasional on-campus meetings and trainings.

Qualifications

• RN with Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing.
• At least 5 years clinical experience in organ donation or transplantation.
• Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Knowledge of transplant procedures, blood collection, and apheresis.

Responsibilities

• Takes and reviews deceased donor organ offers; delegates and supervises the Donor Allocation Specialist.
• Coordinates urgent listing after hours and weekends including evaluation of consults, labs and procedures.
• Maintains professional communication with surgeons, recipients, Organ and Tissue Donation staff, and donor hospital staff.
• Triages after-hours calls and escalates to the on-call physician when appropriate.
• Manages care of patients with renal, hepatic, cardiac, respiratory failure, diabetes, and related transplant issues.
• Demonstrates knowledge of immunosuppression and transplant-related drug interactions.
• Ensures UNOS responsibilities (listing, delisting, reporting, waitlist updates) are completed timely.
• Uses Cerner and UNOS systems to enter and retrieve recipient data and donor information.
• Participates in 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
