Job summary

Labcorp in Houston, TX is seeking a Histology Team Lead to guide the Histology department. The role supports day-to-day operations, training, and supervision to ensure high-quality tissue processing and accurate test results. Evening shift is typical (Mon-Fri, 10:00pm–6:20am).

The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree in a chemical/biological science with 3+ years in Histology, and ideally a Bachelor’s degree with ASCP certification and leadership experience in a lab setting.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate’s degree in a chemical/biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with 3+ years of Histology experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology and ASCP certifications.
• Immunohistochemistry experience is desirable.
• Supervisory or lead experience within a histology team is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with day-to-day operations of the Histology department.
• Send production reports to management on a daily/weekly/monthly cadence.
• Assist with training of new hires and development of current employees.
• Determine specimen acceptability for testing per established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex histology procedures per SOPs.
• Operate and troubleshoot instruments; maintain safety and quality controls.
• Prepare, test and evaluate reagents or controls; ensure timely test results for patient care.

Labcorp is seeking a Histology Team Lead to join our team in Houston, TX. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 10:00pm- 6:20am

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Histology department
• Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management
• Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
• Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 3 years or more of experience or more as a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications
• 1 year or more of Immunohistochemistry experience
• 1 year or more of supervising or leading a team

• Experiece with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
• Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
