University Health seeks a seasoned Scientist in Histotechnology to oversee daily biopsy histology operations, ensuring timely grossing, embedding, cutting, and staining of slides in the Histology Lab and associated Community Hospitals. Strong quality control systems and CAP/Joint Commission compliance are essential.

The candidate must have extensive Histotechnology experience, LIS proficiency, and accredited training.

Qualifications

• Seven years' working experience as a Scientist in Histotechnology
• Two years’ experience using a Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university
• Education/training must include 60 semester hours with required science/chemistry labs and ABHES/CAAHEP accredited training or three months of high complexity testing training

Responsabilités

• Oversees the daily operations of all designated biopsy surgical cases for grossing in the Histology Lab and the Community Hospitals
• Maintains adequate quality control systems to prepare all surgical specimens for specimen grossing, embedding, cutting, and staining of slides
• Coordinates workflow within the section, ensuring timely availability of grossing specimens for pathologists/residents
• Ensures compliance with CAP and Joint Commission accreditation and safety requirements
