Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a skilled Histology professional to lead laboratory operations across several technical disciplines, preparing tissue samples for histology with manual and instrument-assisted methods.

You will teach routine and specialized techniques, uphold quality standards, and participate in applied research and onboarding new team members. ASCP HTL is required; QIHC is preferred for senior roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 30+ biology/chemistry credits and 3 years of histology experience.
• ASCP HTL certification is required.
• Immunohistochemistry qualification (QIHC) preferred for senior role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the charge on laboratory operations across multiple technical disciplines with confidence and minimal supervision—you'll be the go-to expert!
• Master the art of routine and complex analytic procedures, transforming human tissue samples, body fluids, and cultured cells into perfectly prepared specimens for histological examination using both manual techniques and cutting-edge laboratory instruments
• Share your expertise by teaching routine and specialized laboratory techniques to your teammates—because great knowledge is meant to be shared!
• Champion quality by ensuring standard work practices are consistently followed across the lab

Qualifications:
Qualifications

_ EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:_

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a combination of at least 30 semester hours of biology and chemistry required.
• Three (3) years of experience with progressive responsibility in a CAP accredited histology laboratory setting required.
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Histology Technologist (HTL) required.
• For Sr. Histotechnologist in Immunohistochemistry, Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) by ASCP preferred.
