Job summary

State of Indiana, via INDOT, seeks a Crew Leader for the Fort Wayne Unit to coordinate highway maintenance crews and perform winter operations, traffic control, and signage work. CDL is required or obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities include directing daily tasks, inspecting equipment, and ensuring safety compliance. CDL training is provided onsite, with competitive benefits and a strong work-life balance in a public service role.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a field crew in the job site.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and long periods of walking.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
• Ensure staff complete assignments and report issues to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure procedures meet INDOT standards.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Inspect and maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Install and repair traffic signs and pavement markings.
