Job summary

Beta Engineering is seeking a Substation Engineer to design, interpret, apply, and document substation drawings and calculations. You will ensure designs comply with codes and standards and collaborate with customers, PMs, and other engineering teams. Travel to sites is expected to support project meetings and testing.

The role requires a Bachelor in engineering, 5+ years HV substation design experience, a PE license, and proficiency in Word/Excel/PowerPoint with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering (4-year or higher).
• 5+ years of experience in the physical design of high voltage substations.
• PE license is required.
• Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Check conduit, grounding, control shelter, electrical arrangements, outdoor lighting and equipment vendor design packages.
• Perform and check grounding, conduit fill, pulling tension, vehicle tracking, outdoor lighting, lightning protection, Sag-10, and insulation coordination calculations.
• Create and check material list descriptions for major and minor substation equipment.
• Coordinate with client representatives, Project Management Teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Travel periodically to customer offices and active job sites; manage day-to-day design schedules.
