BWX Technologies, Inc. is hiring a High Thermo-Mechanical Properties Test Lead in Lynchburg, VA to guide material characterization for nuclear applications. You will define standards, perform tests, and mentor peers across programs for space, defense, and commercial customers.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering or physics with 7+ years of experience, U.S. citizenship, and ability to obtain required clearances. On-site in Lynchburg with a competitive package and growth opportunities.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g. Materials Science, Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical) or Physics required.
• Minimum seven years of relevant experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain DOE/DOD security clearance.
• Preferred advanced degree in materials science, chemistry, or related field.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement material characterization methodologies and testing capabilities focused on thermo-physical properties.
• Operate and maintain a high temperature mechanical testing furnace and equipment (LFA, DSC, STA, dilatometry).
• Perform thermo-physical property characterization on samples from diverse R&D programs.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to apply techniques that support R&D objectives.
• Mentor and support the broader team in ceramics, metals, composites, and nuclear fuel materials.
• Support operations manager in build-out, commissioning, and safety documentation for the testing facility.
