Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer to assess complex heavy vehicle applications and ensure regulatory compliance. You will respond to technical queries, advise frontline teams, operators and manufacturers, and work with policy groups to develop new requirements and guidance.

Qualifications

• Experience assessing heavy vehicle statutory test applications or similar regulatory processes.
• Ability to interpret legislation and DVSA standards and provide advisory support.
• Proven track record in communicating with operators, manufacturers and policy teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first test and conversions.
• Assess applications of approved vehicles via ECWVTA teams.
• Offer technical support to non-technical processing teams and advise frontline staff and external stakeholders.
• Investigate solutions to mitigate risks and collaborate on new regulatory initiatives.
• Communicate clearly with customers to ensure understanding and timely responses.
• Support the Heavy Vehicle Processing Manager and represent DVSA at trade events.
• Maintain relevant databases.
