Provide instruction for students in the basic principles of heavy equipment operation (HEO), proper pre-start procedures, basic preventative maintenance and repair procedures to enhance heavy equipment and truck-driving operation, and safe operating practice. Instruction is intended to produce well-rounded entry-level operators and insure safety of participants and others on projects and in work areas. Field instruction of students is necessary to attain learning objectives of HEO course requirements. Maintain and repair trucks, heavy equipment, and support vehicles used in the HCT program. Maintain a safe, clean work environment. Insure safety of self, participants, and others on maintenance and repair projects and in work areas. Must be reliable and have ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from many different backgrounds in stressful situations.
