The West Virginia Department of Transportation seeks an Equipment Operator to join a specialized crew under the Dis-Force/Heavy Maintenance Headquarters in Ohio County. This role involves operating heavy machinery, installing piping and pilings, and assisting in drilling projects across the district.

The position requires a valid CDL (Class A or B), ability to perform strenuous work, and flexibility for irregular hours and overtime. Apprenticeship progression is possible with CDL compliance.

Competenze

• Valid Class A or B CDL and four years of heavy equipment experience.
• No formal education required.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Work may require irregular hours and overtime.

Mansioni

• Operates a hydraulic crane.
• Utilizes heavy motorized equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level soil and aggregate.
• Utilizes heavy motorized equipment to grade surfaces, roll or compact soil and aggregate.
• Leads or trains lower-level equipment operators.
• Assists the Core Driller in positioning the drilling rig.
• Adds rods or augers to drill.
• Removes core samples from the core barrel.
• Assists in cleaning and maintenance of the drilling rig and related tools and equipment.
• Installs steel piling in pre-drilled holes.
• Cleans the drilling site of debris after drilling is completed.
• Sets and detonates explosive charges for earth removal.
