Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to perform repair work on wheeled and track-laying heavy equipment.
• Ability to fabricate and machine parts; perform body work (welding, soldering, straightening).
• Complete background investigation and suitability determination is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead work crews by assigning tasks, communicating supervisor instructions, and setting the pace of work.
• Coordinate work activities to ensure plans, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies are available.
• Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure compliance with procedures, methods, quality standards, and deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance, answer questions, demonstrate proper work methods, and identify problems requiring supervisor assistance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild heavy equipment and mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and power systems.
• Determine equipment serviceability and repair requirements, including major assemblies removal when needed, and perform final adjustments and testing.
• Use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify failures, perform repairs, and verify operation.
• Ensure safety, housekeeping, and hazardous material/waste handling compliance.
