Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for Starlink hardware reliability. You will own reliability from factory to field, guiding design to manufacturing, RF, and network operations, and communicating findings to senior leadership.

You will set strategy for the team, mentor engineers, ensure ISO standards, and drive cross-functional improvements to reduce field downtime and improve product life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or another engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience executing complex engineering projects in design qualification, manufacturing, hardware reliability, reliability test, or a production environment.
• 1+ year of experience in a leadership position leading a team of 3+ engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers focused on hardware reliability and field performance for the Starlink hardware.
• Allocate resources across qualification campaigns, production reliability, and field investigations to ensure coverage, timely execution, and rapid troubleshooting of failures.
• Develop individual team members through technical mentorship, clear ownership, and alignment with Starlink program goals.
• Partner with hardware design, software, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to maximize reliability across the product lifecycle.
• Manage technical investigations with tight timelines; develop and execute reliability qualification strategies; design environmental, mechanical, electrical, RF, and system-level tests.
