East Coast Mining Ltd. is seeking a Nightshift Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic for a long-term open-pit mining project near St. Lawrence, NL. You will lead a team of mechanics, coordinate maintenance activities, and ensure safe, reliable equipment performance on night shifts.

Ideal candidates have a Journeyperson HDET certification, 5+ years of mining experience, and hands-on CAT/Komatsu maintenance know-how. This is a permanent night shift with comprehensive benefits.

You are an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic with strong leadership skills and extensive experience maintaining large mobile equipment in an open-pit mining environment. You lead by example, prioritise safe and reliable equipment performance and are comfortable coordinating maintenance activities across a large team.

ECM, a Newfoundland-based company, is seeking a Nightshift Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team on an exciting hard-rock open-pit mining project near St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate nightshift maintenance activities for heavy mobile mining equipment
• Provide day-to-day direction and technical support to Heavy Duty Mechanics and maintenance personnel
• Coordinate maintenance priorities to support equipment availability and mine production requirements
• Oversee planned and unplanned repairs, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities
• Support the diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues on large mining equipment
• Coordinate work performed by internal maintenance personnel and subcontractors
• Monitor work progress and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently
• Ensure crews follow established maintenance procedures and site safety requirements
• Communicate equipment status, outstanding repairs and maintenance priorities during shift handovers
• Promote safe work practices and maintain a high standard of housekeeping within maintenance areas

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Mechanic certification
• Minimum 5 years of mining / industrial experience preferred
• Strong hands-on experience maintaining large mobile mining equipment
• Experience working with Caterpillar (CAT) and Komatsu equipment
• Previous lead hand, supervisory or maintenance leadership experience
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Proven ability to coordinate maintenance priorities in a production-focused environment
• Strong safety leadership and commitment to safe work practices
• Comfortable overseeing internal maintenance crews and subcontractors
• Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driver’s abstract
• Available to work a permanent nightshift rotation
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions

• 14 days on / 14 days off rotation
• Permanent nightshift
• Overtime and shift premiums in accordance with the Collective Agreement
