Job summary

Swissport is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to service and maintain ground service equipment at a designated station. You will ensure safe, reliable equipment for the ramp and other service areas, following all local and governing laws.

The role pays $39.00 per hour for full-time employment with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, life insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Trade school training or mechanical background preferred.
• Good oral and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Willing to travel for training or to assist other SP stations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance per established schedules on all ground support equipment.
• Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment as required.
• Hydraulic knowledge or basics necessary. Must be willing to learn hydraulic systems.
• Airport deicing training will be required; overtime is necessary during weather emergencies.
• Will be working outside in all weather conditions year-round.
• Remove malfunctioning ground support equipment from service and ensure it is not returned to service until repaired.
• Respond to emergency service calls as well as accidents involving ground support equipment.
• Complete maintenance/repair documentation per SP requirements.
• Comply with all security requirements.
• Maintain a valid motor vehicle license for air side / non-air side operations.
• Follow safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and SP management.
• Keep GSE shop and equipment clean and report deficiencies.
• Fuel equipment as necessary with safety and environmental considerations.
• Liaise with Ramp management, customers and staff professionally when needed.
• Work as a self-starter and report to shop leads daily.
