Job summary

Swissport in Sterling, VA is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to service and maintain Ground Service Equipment at a designated station, ensuring safe and compliant operation of equipment.

The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and keeping accurate maintenance records. The position is full-time with benefits including health and 401(k); hourly pay is $39.00 with opportunities for overtime in weather events.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license is required.
• Trade school training or mechanical background preferred.
• Good oral and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Willing to travel for training or to assist other Swissport stations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance per schedules on all ground support equipment.
• Provide troubleshooting and diagnostics for ground support equipment.
• Learn hydraulic systems; hydraulic knowledge is a plus.
• Be prepared for snow, ice, and cold weather; overtime may be required.
• Work outside in all weather conditions year-round.
• Remove malfunctioning equipment from service until repairs are complete.
• Respond to emergency service calls and accidents involving GSE.
• Maintain documentation per carrier and authority requirements.
• Comply with security requirements and hold a valid motor vehicle license as needed.
