Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manager of Ground Systems Fluids Engineering in the United States to lead a team responsible for designing, analyzing, and delivering critical fluid systems for launch operations, including cryogenic propellant systems and high-pressure systems.

You will own the technical quality across a broad portfolio, mentor engineers, and drive design reviews, safety processes, and PHAs to ensure program milestones are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of fluid systems design and analysis, with a strong background in cryogenic or high-pressure systems.
• 3+ years of direct people management experience, including hiring and performance management.
• Demonstrated ability to review and approve P&IDs, analysis reports, component specifications, and test documentation.
• Experience leading or participating in design reviews, PHAs, and formal safety processes.
• Familiarity with fluid network and thermal analysis tools (AFT Fathom/Arrow, Thermal Desktop, or equivalent).
• Experience with 3D CAD and configuration management in a hardware delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical quality of fluid system designs across the team's portfolio, including storage, conveyance, and control.
• Review and approve engineering artifacts: P&IDs, system schematics, 3D models, component specifications, analysis reports, and test procedures.
• Drive rigorous analysis practices for fluid network modeling and thermal analysis and ensure results are used to make defensible design decisions.
• Lead and participate in design reviews, PHAs, and formal risk evaluations.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements (e.g., ASME B31.3, internal safety processes).
• Provide technical mentorship and career development guidance; conduct regular performance reviews and growth conversations.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, safety, and accountability aligned with Blue Origin's values.
• Plan and manage team workload across multiple concurrent projects and design phases; drive accountability for team deliverables against program schedules.
