Job summary

Akima seeks a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic Lead to act as the subject matter expert for inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of Army GSE and MHE at a contractor-managed turn-in site. Ensure equipment is serviceable, safe, and compliant with Army manuals, and properly prepared for storage, turn-in, or transfer.

You will oversee documentation in GCSS-Army and DA forms, enforce safety standards, and guide a team through turn-in operations to support Army readiness

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• 3–5 years hands-on experience in GSE or MHE maintenance (Army or contractor environment preferred).
• Familiarity with Army maintenance standards, TMs, and property accountability requirements.
• Ability to read TMs, schematics, and maintenance work orders.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose GSE/MHE during turn-in processing.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance per Army standards (DA PAM 750-8, AR 750-1 and TMs).
• Repair and service mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Record maintenance results using DA Form 2404/5988-E and Army systems (GCSS-Army).
• Update condition codes and maintenance records to ensure audit readiness.
• Coordinate with Supply Technicians and Material Coordinators for turn-in verification and documentation.
