Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a Lead Engineer to oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Distribution Management System (DMS). You will lead engineers across three states, guiding projects from technology evaluation to budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder reporting.

The role requires extensive experience in electrical distribution, DMS/SCADA, and grid modernization. Travel across MA/CT/NH is expected; emergency readiness is part of duties. Hybrid work options may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum of eight to ten years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry. Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to support the company’s electric control centers by optimizing the distribution system using DMS advanced functionality.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in real time technologies such as ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/VAR Optimization and load shedding.
• Coordinate with system operations control centers, IT and engineering resources to ensure DMS functionality and future enhancements.
• Lead the specifications and configurations of DMS advanced applications such as FLISR, LVM, AFR, Load and Generation scheduling.
• Oversee development of project approval documentation including need statement, scope, risks and mitigations, budget, and schedule.
• Ensure rigorous project management is exercised in implementation of grid modernization projects.
• Investigate new technologies and tools and assess their relevance to the Company’s system operations control rooms.
• Develop tools and methods to process data from multiple sources to design and verify engineering models and databases.
• Communicate grid modernization initiatives externally and participate in industry forums.
