Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead GPU and AI infrastructure initiatives in our San Mateo data centers. You will own the end-to-end hardware lifecycle, from architectural evaluation to fleet-wide performance tuning, ensuring safe, scalable, and cost-efficient GPU deployments for real-time rendering and AI workloads.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of hardware engineering experience with GPU architecture, AI accelerators, or HPC systems.
• In-depth understanding of PCIe, NVLink, InfiniBand, and liquid cooling for high-TDP hardware.
• Experience testing CPU, Memory (HBM/DDR5), NVMe, and high-speed networking in Linux.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or C++ for hardware validation tools.

Responsibilities

• Prototype next-generation GPU-accelerated hardware platforms and ensure integration with high-density compute nodes and interconnects.
• Drive GPU integration, performance testing, and debugging in our fleet, focusing on hardware-level optimizations and driver tuning.
• Develop and execute rigorous evaluation and stress-testing for GPU-heavy server platforms for real-time rendering and AI inference.
• Lead firmware qualification (BIOS/BMC) and automation for GPU health and firmware updates.
• Collaborate with hardware vendors and triage issues across hardware, driver, and kernel layers.
• Build and maintain monitoring stacks (Grafana/Prometheus) to track GPU metrics like HBM utilization and PCIe bandwidth.
