Job summary

The City of Colorado Springs is seeking an experienced Golf Course Superintendent for Patty Jewett Golf Course, a historic 27-hole municipal facility with a pro shop, restaurant, and driving range. The role combines agronomic leadership with fiscal management to deliver premier playing conditions in a busy public setting.

Ideal candidates will have a turfgrass-related degree, 5+ years in golf course maintenance, supervisory experience, and a GCSAA Class A within 3 years of hire, plus a Pesticide

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in golf course maintenance, including experience as an assistant golf course superintendent or in a comparable role.
• Two years of administrator and/or supervisor experience managing performance and supporting employee training and development.
• Be a GCSAA Class A member within 3 years of hire.
• Possess upon hire a Pesticide Applicator License.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and oversee maintenance and conditioning of Patty Jewett Golf Course for safe, high-quality playing conditions across all 27 holes and grounds.
• Lead, supervise, evaluate, and develop staff including assistant superintendents and seasonal workers.
• Establish maintenance priorities, determine work, and allocate personnel, equipment, materials, and finances.
• Develop and administer maintenance budget, monitor expenditures, approve purchases and time, maintain records, plan for equipment replacement.
• Oversee turf management, irrigation, cultural practices, fertilizer and pesticide applications, course setup, and improvements.
• Coordinate with Golf Division Manager and operations staff on conditions, schedules, tournaments, projects, and compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
