Job summary

Blue Origin in the Seattle area seeks a senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control software engineer to own end-to-end G&C algorithms for New Glenn missions. You will design, implement, and verify flight software in C/C++ and develop MATLAB/Simulink models for analysis and auto-code generation.

You will work on a cross-disciplinary team, perform Monte Carlo studies, lead technical reviews, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety-critical performance for spaceflight applications.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years experience developing G&C software for aerospace, automotive, or other safety-critical applications.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm design and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop guidance and control algorithms for New Glenn flight control.
• Sequence mission activities and vehicle system commands.
• Develop GN&C requirements with flow downs to subsystem and software levels, including companion verification methods.
• Build guidance and control algorithms in Simulink to support auto-code generation to target.
• Implement hand-coded flight software in C/C++ where appropriate.
• Conduct stability and performance assessments including development of linear and nonlinear models.
• Perform Monte Carlo simulation campaigns to characterize algorithm performance and robustness across dispersed environments.
• Lead root cause investigations and peer reviews of GN&C products.
• Coordinate cross-team vehicle-level analyses and trade studies.
