Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Operations Engineer to lead cross-functional projects from design to delivery of distribution systems. You will manage schedules, mitigate risks, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and ensure on-time handovers for new builds, retrofits, and expansions.

You will travel up to 80% domestically and may relocate with relocation assistance. A strong engineering background and experience with automated material handling are required to excel in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
• 1+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation.
• Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related STEM field (preferred).
• Operations Management/Distribution Center experience with material handling or automation.
• Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Project or Smartsheet (preferred).
• Experience with design/implementation automation solutions like conveyors, sorters, high-speed lines, robotic work cells (preferred).
• Proven technical leadership for industrial engineering projects or programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex project lifecycles across organizations and geographies.
• Participate in engineering reviews and influence system architecture and processes.
• Lead scheduling, milestones, dependencies, risk mitigation, and stakeholder alignment.
• Oversee design and implementation of automated systems and equipment per standards.
• Document decisions and actions; communicate status and risk to leadership.
• Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice approvals efficiently.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders across projects.
• Identify and lead process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
