Job summary

The Poway Unified School District is seeking applications for the 2027 season for a Girls Softball Head Coaching position at Poway High School. The Head Coach will manage the program, develop training plans, coach during practices and games, and promote a positive team environment.

Ideal candidates bring strong softball background, coaching experience, and a commitment to student-athlete development; background checks and CIF coaching certificates are required.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at high school or club level preferred.
• Strong knowledge of softball techniques, rules and strategies.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Must pass background checks and CIF coaching certificates including CPR/First Aid, Concussion in Sports, Fundamentals in Coaching, Heat Illness and Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement training programs.
• Lead daily practices and coach at games.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Monitor and promote the academic and personal growth of student-athletes.
• Organize and oversee team events, fundraising, and community service initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all school and league policies.
• Manage all program administrative requirements.
