Job summary

Maricopa Unified School District is seeking a Girls' Softball Coach to provide leadership and instruction to student athletes. The role emphasizes skill development, discipline, and sportsmanship within a supportive team environment.

The coach will plan practices, monitor behavior, ensure safety, and collaborate with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and maintain records. A stipend is offered; hours are arranged with the district, and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching athletics.
• Interest in athletics and willingness to lead students.
• Physical ability to perform essential functions.
• Available to work during assigned hours.
• Knowledge of coaching techniques and student behavior.
• Knowledge of state, federal and school policies and regulations.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• NFHS Coaches Course including Concussion Course.
• Valid Driver License.
• 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Responsibilities

• Coach individual participants in skills for successful performance.
• Provide a positive learning environment for athletes.
• Plan and schedule a regular practice program in-season.
• Manage athlete behavior during training and meets.
• Take precautions to protect students and equipment.
• Assist athletic director with scheduling interscholastic contests.
• Recommend equipment, supplies and uniforms as needed.
• Maintain accurate records (attendance, insurance, accident reports).
• Oversee safety conditions of facilities during activities.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship; establish penalties for breaches.
• Prepare field or court; provide rosters and end-of-year inventory as requested.
• Evaluate coaches as requested; communicate with athletic director.
