Job summary

The Lead Medical Instrument Technician (MIT) in the Gastroenterology Laboratory at the Miami VA Healthcare System provides expert technical guidance on GI procedures and equipment to all staff.

The non-supervisory role coordinates workflow, guides staff, and maintains oversight of GI equipment and safety. It serves as a technical expert for complex procedures such as ERCP and capsule studies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of complex gastroenterology procedures and GI equipment.
• Ability to brief and orient hospital staff including physicians.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission, OSHA, SGNA standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance on GI procedures and equipment to staff.
• Coordinate GI Lab workflow and offer staff guidance.
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance of GI laboratory operations.
