Job summary

Teck Resources Limited's Red Dog Operations in Alaska seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead and safeguard geotechnical practice across open pits and waste dumps. You will guide a team, manage risks, and drive design and monitoring programs.

This role requires extensive experience with pit slope design, data analysis, and delivery of complex projects in a fast-paced mining environment, with a two-week on / two-week off rotation and on-site duties.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering degree in geotechnical, geological, mining or civil fields.
• 12+ years geotechnical experience, senior level and open-pit mining focus.
• P.Eng. designation preferred; strong analytical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Geotechnical Engineers and Engineers in Training.
• Provide oversight for geotechnical projects ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Identify and mitigate geotechnical risks for open pits and waste dumps.
• Review geotechnical data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Develop and oversee slope and dump monitoring programs and action plans.
• Collaborate across Mine Geology, Mine Engineering and Operations to integrate geotechnical requirements.
