Job summary

Teck Resources Limited seeks a Senior Water Resources Engineer for Red Dog Mine, AK. This on-site role focuses on water balance management, regulatory compliance, and integration of water management into operations.

You will lead modeling efforts, mentor staff, and collaborate with external consultants. The role requires deep expertise in GoldSim, geochemical modeling, and water resources planning, with a track record in mine environments and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil, Geotechnical, Geologic, Environmental, Chemical, or related field).
• 7–10 years experience in mining, mineral processing, or water management.
• Experience managing and training junior staff is asset.
• Knowledge of mine tailings & water management principles, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
• Proficiency with water and load balance models and GoldSIM is required.
• MS Office; GIS or planning tools experience is an asset.
• Strong communication skills; team oriented.
• Arctic environment experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader and sponsor safety and environmental rules.
• Protect safety and health of employees by promoting safe procedures and health programs.
• Perform measurements, calculations, analysis, interpretation, reporting, and recommendations.
• Assist in managing site water resources and water quality including water balance in GoldSim.
• Lead development and improvements of water and load balance models in GoldSim.
• Lead water quality modeling and support geochemical program.
• Train and mentor junior staff in water management and modeling.
• Support integration of water management in site operating decisions and planning.
• Prepare technical documents and present findings to stakeholders.
