Job summary

Baylor Genetics in Houston, TX is seeking the Head of Lab Technology Platforms to advance the laboratory technology infrastructure. You will optimize bioinformatics pipelines, data systems and LIMS, and guide QA/QM activities to ensure scalable, compliant genomic operations.

You will lead a technical team of bioinformaticians and programmers, coordinate with IT and clinical teams, and drive initiatives that improve throughput, turnaround times, and data quality in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required; Master’s preferred in a technical discipline.
• Strong software engineering skills and project management experience.
• Familiar with bioinformatics and genomics pipelines.
• Experience in production environments (on-prem HPC and cloud).
• Experience with CLIA/CAP-regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and integrate software tools; ensure fit with system requirements.
• Oversee daily bioinformatics pipeline performance.
• Maintain pipelines to keep end-to-end processes running smoothly.
• Collaborate with lab operations to meet performance, scalability and compliance.
• Lead a technical team of bioinformaticians and programmers; drive cross-functional initiatives.
