Norfolk Southern seeks a Lead Data Scientist (GenAI) to advance enterprise AI initiatives using Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and MCP servers. You will partner with cross-functional leaders to deliver scalable, secure AI capabilities that create business value across the organization.

The role focuses on document intelligence, conversational AI, and GenAI solutions, with emphasis on model context, agent integrations, and production readiness. Hybrid work with on-site and remote days is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, DS, ML, AI or related field.
• 5+ years in GenAI/DS/NLP roles.
• Experience deploying LLMs in production.
• Proficient in Python and ML libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy).

Responsabilités

• Lead design and architecture of enterprise GenAI solutions tailored to business use cases.
• Design modular, framework-agnostic LLM pipelines using LangChain/LlamaIndex.
• Define prompting strategies, agent patterns, and RAG architectures.
• Oversee lifecycle of use cases from development to production and MLOps.
• Ensure responsible AI practices, including explainability, governance, and compliance.
• Evaluate emerging AI trends and guide adoption of high-value innovations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver configurable, scalable solutions.
