Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive Generative AI projects, building assistants, AI-enabled pipelines, tooling, and scalable software. You will shape AI capabilities across Cat Digital, collaborating with data scientists and engineers to deliver production-ready solutions.
The role emphasizes hands-on development in Python/Go, deployment on AWS, and integration with modern Gen AI architectures, with opportunities to influence large-scale industrial AI deployments.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience with strong OOP
- 3+ years designing software in Python and/or Go
- Experience with Gen AI system architectures and prompt engineering
- Exceptional communication skills for cross-functional teams
- Proficiency with Python libraries: FastAPI, LangGraph and LangChain
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy Gen AI solutions using Python/Go and OOP.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Deploy solutions on AWS using CloudFormation.
- Work with LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, and Crew.ai.
- Apply knowledge of LLMs and prompt engineering concepts.
- Develop services with FastAPI on AWS.
- Create edge-deployable services and components.
- Collaborate with data scientists to productionize analytics solutions.
- Support ML/AI pipelines using Apache Airflow.
