Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Principal Gear & Gearbox Manufacturing Engineer to serve as the technical authority for precision gear production across advanced electromechanical systems. You will own end-to-end gear and gearbox manufacturing strategy, defining standards and leading supplier, equipment, and process decisions to enable manufacturability and NVH performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in precision gear/gearbox manufacturing engineering in production environments.
• Proven leadership in solving complex gear manufacturing problems.
• Deep expertise in gear cutting, heat treatment, finishing, and metrology.
• Experience building strategic supplier relationships at engineering leadership levels.
• Ability to influence product design via DFM/DFA and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong background in equipment selection and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end gear and gearbox manufacturing strategy (cutting, grinding, heat treatment, finishing, assembly).
• Define standards, drive supplier choices, and manage capabilities for gear manufacturing.
• Lead production facility design for gear manufacturing, including equipment and automation strategy.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering on DFM/DFA for manufacturability and NVH performance.
• Drive process development, PFMEA, control plans, and quality methods for high-precision gears.
