Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Reading, MA is seeking a Gear Design Engineer to own the design, analysis, and manufacturing of high-performance gear systems for robotic platforms at scale.

The ideal candidate will master planetary, harmonic, cycloidal, and custom gear trains, and will manage gear vendors and contract design partners to bring precision systems from concept through volume production in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Experience in gear mechanism design and analysis for robotics, automation, or precision machinery
• Experience managing external vendors and co-design partnerships for gear components
• Experience with gear design software (KISSsoft, MASTA, ROMAX, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Own the design, analysis, and manufacturing of high‑performance gear systems for robotic platforms at scale.
• Lead design-for-manufacturing and vendor coordination across internal/external partners.
• Bring precision gear systems from concept through volume production in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
