Job ID: 10471000 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Gear Design Engineer to own the design, analysis, and design-for-manufacturing of high-performance while cost-efficient gear systems for our robotic platforms at substantial scale. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in gear mechanism design—including planetary, harmonic, cycloidal, and custom gear trains—and a proven ability to manage gear vendors (internal & external) and contract design partners. This candidate must combine strong analytical skills with hands-on experience bringing precision gear systems from concept through volume manufacturing, and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field
- Experience in gear mechanism design and analysis for robotics, automation, or precision machinery
- Experience managing external vendors and co-design partnerships for gear components
- Experience with gear design software (KISSsoft, MASTA, ROMAX, or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on gear/power transmission systems
- Experience designing compact, high-torque-density gear trains for robotics or aerospace applications
- Familiarity with AGMA/ISO gear standards and rating methods
