athenahealth is seeking a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer in Austin, TX, offering a hybrid work arrangement. You will design and build scalable cloud-native web applications supporting conversational AI across workflows.

Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams to shape the technical foundation for new products and capabilities. The role emphasizes front-end and back-end balance, with React, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, and WebFlux expertise, plus PostgreSQL with pgvector and Redis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 to 15 years of professional software engineering experience, including full stack development.
• Strong experience with React and TypeScript; production-grade backend services in Java and Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full stack software solutions using React, TypeScript, Java, and Spring Boot (WebFlux).
• Design and implement scalable APIs, UIs, and backend services for configuring, managing, and evaluating conversational agents.
• Build and optimize data access with PostgreSQL (Postgres) and pgvector for AI data workflows.
• Integrate distributed caching and state-management with Redis to improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering partners to translate requirements into solutions.
• Contribute to platform architecture decisions for services, APIs, observability, and deployment patterns.
• Work with Kubernetes and Helm to support repeatable releases and scalable environments.
• Implement telemetry, tracing, logging, and monitoring with OpenTelemetry.
