Job summary

Pennymac is seeking a Principal Frontend Engineer to design the AI-powered AI Platform Services frontend. You will craft an AI-native Collaborativ Canvas, enabling real-time co-authoring of artifacts with agents, while managing complex state and streaming UI.

You’ll own the frontend architecture, implement CRDTs, WebSockets, and server components, and partner with backend teams to deliver scalable, intuitive interfaces for engineers and product managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years building complex React/SPA frontends.
• Strong TypeScript, Next.js and server components knowledge.
• Real-time collaboration with WebSockets/SSE and CRDTs.
• Experience integrating AI into frontend (LLM APIs).
• Data visualization and UI/UX for AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect the frontend for AI platform using React/TS/Next.js.
• Build real-time collaborative workspace with CRDTs and WebSockets.
• Develop Generative UI that renders charts, forms, checklists dynamically.
• Create visualizations for reasoning sources and context library.
• Collaborate with backend to define API contracts and streaming data.
• Lead DX, set frontend standards, and promote AI-native patterns.
