Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Rolling Meadows, IL, is seeking a Sr. Principal Digital Design Engineer to lead digital hardware design across the full product lifecycle. The role focuses on FPGA-based systems, high-speed interfaces, and embedded processing, with current Secret clearance.

Responsibilities include translating requirements into embedded designs, performing verification, and collaborating across teams to deliver robust electronic warfare systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or similar with 9+ years in digital electronics design or 7+ years with a master’s.
• Extensive digital hardware circuit design experience including simulation and schematic capture through test and integration.
• Ability to translate system performance and operational requirements into embedded system requirements, design, and test specs.
• Experience in HDL (VHDL/Verilog).
• Synthesis timing closure, physical build, image generation; testbench generation and verification; Xilinx Vivado, Synplify Pro, QuestaSim.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates digital circuitry for digital electronic equipment and hardware systems.
• Oversees full lifecycle from concept to field support; utilizes FPGA technologies from major vendors.
• Work with high-speed interfaces, RF DSP, controls, data links, and embedded processing.
