Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Corrections in Lino Lakes is seeking a Food Service Lead (Cook Coordinator) to manage daily meal preparation and supervise incarcerated workers. You will ensure meals meet quality, nutrition, and time standards, while enforcing safety and sanitation rules.

Qualifications include 18+ years old with clear background, English proficiency, and 6–9 months of relevant food production experience or vocational training.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old and able to pass a criminal history check.
• Able to read, write, and communicate verbally in English; able to stand, walk, bend, and carry items for long shifts.
• Nine months of full-time food production experience in a high-volume setting, six months in a correctional or secured environment, or completion of a full-time vocational/tech program in commercial cooking or food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, instruction and direction to incarcerated workers in daily meal preparation, presentation, handling, serving and cleanup to meet quality and nutrition standards and timelines.
• Monitor and adhere to safety and sanitation standards within the food services area and maintain a secure environment.
• Direct the work of others in a large food service setting; ensure facility meals are prepared and served on schedule.
